As the various stakeholders started engaging with the system, we recognized that groups and processes need to be formalized, with clear sharing of roles and responsibilities. Therefore, as part of institutionalising the process, we formed or strengthened (where structures already existed) proper structures at different levels, to meet periodically to plan, implement and review progress.
Gram Panchayat Network
The SMCs of all schools in a Gram Panchayat are networked at a Gram Panchayat level where they meet with the Gram Panchayat Education Committee, Ward Members, parents, officials of the Education Department and Panchayati Raj and present issues and plans of their individual schools to the Gram Panchayat elected representatives and the officials. This becomes a forum for the Gram Panchayat to develop a vision and a plan of its own in developing the educational situation of the entire Gram Panchayat covering all schools in its jurisdiction, ensuring that all children receive quality education by ensuring the development of all schools. Along with this discussion is held on the issues prevalent in the schools. The intention is to enable the structures to work together and ensure better governance of the schools.
Block level workshops
Block workshops are organized at the block level and work as a platform wherein Gram Panchayat functionaries of all the Gram Panchayats along with the Block level Development officer and the Block Education Officer (officers in charge of development and education at entire block) participate along with the Block Panchayat President. These workshops improve Governmental coordination and enable decision making at the block level for teacher distribution, allocating resources for school improvement etc.
