A district level workshop was organized in Chitrakoot on 20th of April in the conference hall of the DM office on the topic “Role of Community in Ensuring Quality Learning.” The workshop was held in the chairmanship of the DM Sri Vishakh ji and provided a platform for the community, its representatives and officials of the education department to share their grievances and thoughts on how quality education can be ensured in government schools of the district and the role that the community can play in it.

The workshop was attended by 80 people which included the Community Mobilization Officer, Basic Shiksha Adhikari, the Principal of the District Institute of Educational and Training, the District Programme Officer, Block Education Officers, District Coordinator of Inclusive Education, other NGOs, Block and Cluster Resource Persons, Pradhans and members from the Education Standing Committee of the Gram Panchayat, School Management Committee members, selected teachers and parents.

A report brought out by Prajayatna on the status of education in the district and the attempts made by the organization for improving it was also launched by the DM in the workshop.

DM Sri Vishakh ji said that the betterment of the schools in a democratic set up has to be a shared responsibility of both the government and the community. After seeing the brief presentation of Prajayatna’s work, he praised its unique model of making school development and qualitative learning a community led process and requested the Pradhans, parents and community members to realize that the future of their children depends upon the quality of learning being imparted in these schools and asked them to work towards ensuring it. He also asked the teachers to teach properly in the classrooms and to ensure that children are able to stand for themselves once they pass out from these schools. He also exhorted the department and its officials to ensure that the schools are equipped with all the necessary facilities.

Pradhans, parents, teachers and department officials shared their experiences and achievements while working for the schools and also listened to the grievances of the community members regarding the same.
